Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental Crowns and Bridges

A crown, as the name implies, is a “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore that has been badly decayed, broken or chipped. The treatment also applies on a tooth with a very large filling. Crowns are the last resource when dental filling material can no longer provide enough support for a tooth.

Crowns can be made of different materials; the traditional porcelain fused to metal, full ceramic or new materials such as CAD CAM milled zirconium.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are the solution to replace a missing tooth when an implant cannot be used. Fused crowns in the adjacent natural teeth will support the missing tooth, in which a pontic or dummy tooth will be placed.

Similarly as with the crowns, the bridges can be made of different materials; traditional porcelain fused to metal, full porcelain or new materials such as CAD CAM milled zirconium.
